Dave I am a bit older than you. I lived within walking distance of Ebbets Field but never went to a game there ,we were too poor. Dad was an avid Dodger fan but when they moved he gave up on baseball completely. Before that he and l would sit on the stoop with a pizza and a quart of beer for him and a bottle of Mission pineapple soda for me. We lived on the ground floor so he had a radio plugged in and we listened to the games. Whenever anyone hit a homer the roar of the crowd could be heard throughout the neighborhood. Hilda was a fan at every game who came with a cow bell to bang on. I once shined Cookie Lavagettos shoes on E. Pkway but l didn`t know who he was.
