We used them in the early 40's when I went to P.S. 183. We each had to have our own wooden pens and the points were replaced regulary, since they wore out quickly.

It was in, the third grade when they finally allowed us to use real fountain pens. I'll never forget my first fountain pen. It was a blue Watermans. I used it throughout JHS. By the time I got to HS the ball point pen had been developed and real ink pens were out.
