Yes, back in the day when cabs actually cruised the streets of Brooklyn (say up until about 1960ish), and Manhattan cabbies didn't shoot you a dirty look when you asked them to take you home to a Brooklyn address, the jump seats were in all the Checker cabs. My mother would have to find a Checker cab to hail when she wanted to go somewhere with both of us kids and the carriages/strollers because the Checkers were the only cabs big enough to fit us and all the stuff into. This went on until my mother finally talked my father into buying a used 1954 Dodge Coronet in 1957.
