That may be true, but many a neighborhood has prospered when an improvement attracted others to the area. For all we know (if indeed they do revitalize the theater) it may bring jobs, it may bring businesses, and it certainly would bring a lot of us who remember that theater back to the neighborhood to "kvell" (for my non-Jewish friends "kvell" means to be delighted).
